The soil at our location was dominated by the last ice age. This means that our soils are very heterogeneous, ranging from light sandy soil types up to heavy clay soil types with minute soil character. In a lot of fields, all these variations occur at once.
This presents us with a special challenge. Because the goal is a homogeneous crop. The varying soil conditions, however, require different tillage systems and intensities.
Climatically, we are characterized as a coastal location mainly by a milder sea climate. This means that especially the winters are slightly milder than in the continental climatically dominated eastern part of Latvia. Also the probability of rain events during the vegetation phase from April - July is slightly higher.
However, the coastal location brings a lot of wind with it, which is why we need to be very powerful while our crop protection and fertilizing season, to use phases when it's calm.
